SUMMARY


The Accounting Assistant III performs a variety of advanced level accounting functions in order to post complex financial data and coordinates or performs department functions including financial analysis of projects, financial database development and maintenance, and preparing financial reports for departments or County-wide projects, according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and established department and County policies, procedures, and in compliance with applicable regulations.


EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES


  • Manages current cash status by coordinating and overseeing the receipting and updating of account records and verifying financial activities, posting transactions and adjustments, and investing or divesting funds from the state investment pool to meet current cash needs.
  • Provides service and performs department functions by completing routine and required reports and by responding to requests, inquiries, or questions by researching, reviewing, analyzing, tracking, reconciling, and communicating interpretation, making recommendations, and providing financial statements, reports, summary statistics, or other financial information, according to established department and County policies, procedures, and in compliance with applicable regulations. Participates in gathering documents for public records requests.

  • LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS


  • Associate’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in bookkeeping or general accounting including general ledger responsibilities.
  • OR
  • any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
  • General accounting experience including general ledger responsibilities in government accounting.
  • Eligibility for coverage under the County’s insurance carrier based on successful completion of a criminal history background check.
